When life gets too busy, count on us to be your dog's SECOND best friend!
At Salty Dog Walkers we love to get out and explore the greater Victoria area-We are lucky to live in such a beautiful place where there’s a lot of ground to sniff and a plenty of trails to mark!
Our goal is to provide a fun and caring environment for your dog to be a dog. Whether the sun is shining or the rain is helping the moss grow, we know how important it is for your four legged friend to stretch their legs and explore, to socialize with other dogs and to get outside for stimulation and play. We believe that a well-exercised dog is a well behaved dog and know it isn’t always possible to provide your furry friend with this level of activity on a daily basis.
This is where we come in.
We make it our mission to provide a positive outdoor experience where your pet can take in the beauty of the spectacular nature our Greater Victoria area has to offer during their walk.
We will pick your pet up at your home, spend 1.5-2 hours walking, allowing for socialization with other happy tail waggers, giving lots of head pats, ear scratches and belly rubs and return your pet to their abode after a toweling off and a brushing should the day’s adventure get some paws a little muddy!
We love to see and encourage social dog behaviour, which we positively reinforce during our all our dog walking services, and aim to positively correct any behaviour to help with the training and socialization of your dog.
We offer 1.5- 2 hour group hikes. At the moment we are unable to accommodate requests for private walks.
Our service areas are Victoria, Oak Bay, Saanich, Royal Oak, Gordon Head, and Glanford area.
You can rest assured that when you book with Salty Dog Walkers we have done our utmost to provide the best services possible. We are insured and bonded, pet first aid certified and we carry a CRD commercial dog walking permit.
Additionally, each dog walker can provide you with their drivers abstract, pet first aid certification and criminal record check!
But, most importantly, our love and compassion for animals and nature, and our years of experience owning and working with dogs, and walking and hiking the trails of Greater Victoria means we are comfortable with all breeds, sizes, ages and temperaments. We want your dog to return to you happily exhausted and satisfied with their walk.
I am Diego and am a salty dog myself, having worked on and under the sea for the first part of my career. I have a great passion for the outdoors, and the natural environment of Vancouver Island never ceases to amaze and impress me. I have always felt a special bond with canines and have been a dog owner and care-taker throughout my life, fostering various dogs and helping them to recover from illness before being adopted into their forever families. I strive to encourage best dog behavior through socialization, consistency, and exercise. I am excited to wake up and ‘go to work’ every day with my four legged friends and nothing makes me happier than a day spent on pack walks on some of Greater Victoria's best trails, helping dogs to be their best selves, returning them wagging with excitement to their loving families. I am the father to two young boys who are growing up with a passion for animal welfare and a love for animals and the environment which makes me very proud.
We offer two daily group hikes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Typically pickups happen between 7:45am and 9:00am or 11:45am-1:00pm, and the hikes last anywhere from 1.5-2 hours, followed by drops offs. Your dog(s) will be away anywhere from 3.5-5 hours on these days giving them ample time for socialization and extra time spent with their canine friends! We like to go a bit further afield for these pack walks so that your dogs are free to explore new wilderness sites.
Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes. I am bonded and insured through Pro Fur. I am also Pet First Aid & CPR certified.
My group sizes are typically 6-8 dogs per hike. This is to ensure every dog receives the proper care and attention throughout my hikes/walks!
Unfortunately, dogs that show aggression towards other dogs and/or people may not join group hikes. Ultimately my responsibility towards the pack and the public comes first and admission into a group hike is left to the discretion of Salty Dog Walkers. HOWEVER, before making a determination of where your dog is a good fit for pack hikes, please contact us to arrange a free Meet and Greet to better ascertain your dogs behaviours and needs.
I service Victoria, Oak Bay, Saanich, Gordon Head, Glanford and the southern parts of Royal Oak. It is always best to call to see how we can accommodate your and your dog's needs.
Call or message us right from our website to organize a FREE Meet and Greet, or to make any dog walking services appointment. If you have a special request, send us a message, and we'll get back to you as soon as we get back from our daily dog walking adventure.
